In 2004 at the age of 18, Bryan was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. After having a single bypass to clear a myocardial bridge and having and ICD (Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator) implanted, he was able to live a relatively normal life. Five years later he became symptomatic of congestive heart failure and was told a heart transplant would be needed to save his life. He was listed for transplant in September of 2010 and received his new heart on May 11th, 2011. Since then, he has run several 5Ks to help raise awareness for Organ Donation. He is forever grateful to have gotten a new lease on life and doesn’t take anything for granted.
Thank you Bryan for coming, helping raise the awareness of organ donation by sharing your story and allowing us to honor you.
